Steve Arterburn is an American Christian pastor, author, and motivational speaker known for his work in the field of addiction recovery and his ability to combine Christian teachings with psychological principles. He was born on March 19, 1956, in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, and was raised in a Christian family.
Arterburn attended the University of North Texas, where he earned a degree in journalism. After working as a radio news reporter for several years, he felt called to pursue ministry and attended Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies.
In 1982, Arterburn founded New Life Treatment Centers, a residential program for addiction recovery that combines biblical principles with psychological counseling. He has also founded several other organizations, including Women of Faith, which is a conference series for women, and New Life Ministries, which provides resources and counseling for people struggling with addiction, mental health, and relationship issues.
Arterburn is the author of over 100 books, including the bestselling Every Man’s Battle series, which he co-authored with Fred Stoeker. The books in this series offer practical advice and encouragement for men who struggle with sexual temptation and addiction. Some of his other notable books include Healing is a Choice, The Life Recovery Bible, and Take Your Life Back.
