Speaker Bio

Peyton Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 24, 1976. There are three sons in his family. As an accomplished quarterback at the University of Mississippi, Archie’s father was selected in the first round by the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League in 1971. Olivia, his mother, was a homemaker. A close-knit family reared Peyton and his two older brothers, Cooper and Eli. It was instilled in them at an early age that hard work and perseverance are essential.

Peyton started participating in organized football at the age of six. With his father and brothers, he would regularly watch games on television and learn about the sport. He became enamored with the sport quite soon. The Isidore Newman School Greenies, Peyton’s youth football team, had him at quarterback. In his senior year, he guided the team to an undefeated campaign and a state title.

Colleges from all across the nation scoured Peyton Manning. In the end, he decided to go to the University of Tennessee instead. As a rookie, he earned the starting quarterback job at Tennessee and went on to lead the Vols to the SEC title game and the NFC championship game. This year, Manning was voted SEC Player of the Year and a consensus All-American. Rather than finish his senior year, he opted to enter the NFL Draft instead.

During the 1998 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts picked Manning with the first overall choice. The Colts have found their franchise quarterback in him. One of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, Manning grew into his role fast. In each of his first four seasons, he was selected to the Pro Bowl. He was the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1999.
In six of his first seven seasons, Manning led the Colts to the playoffs. While the Colts advanced to the divisional round in 2003, he was unable to lead the team to victory. Manning had one of the greatest seasons of his career the following year. He passed for 4,557 yards and 49 touchdowns, which was the most in the league. He won the NFL MVP award and led the Colts to the Super Bowl XLVII championship game.

In Super Bowl XLI, the Indianapolis Colts took on the New England Patriots. In the regular season, the Patriots beat the Falcons in a rematch. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning rallied his team from a deficit to win a game they were heavily favored to lose. As the Colts won their first title in more than three decades, he was awarded the game’s most valuable player.

Over the following years, Manning continued to perform at a high level. Second MVP title in 2008 and another Super Bowl berth for Indianapolis Colts. The New Orleans Saints, on the other hand, beat the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.

Manning had neck surgery after the 2010 season and was out for the entire 2011 season as a result. The Colts struggled without him and ultimately chose to start again. Andrew Luck, the team’s first-round choice in the 2012 NFL Draft, is now their starting quarterback. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was released and signed with the Denver Broncos.

Reuniting with John Fox, the man who had previously served as his coach, was an emotional moment for Manning. He and his new teammates hit it off right away. In 2012, Manning threw for 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns, one of the greatest seasons of his career. For the sixth time in his career, he was awarded NFL MVP. Although the Denver Broncos made it all the way to the Super Bowl, the Seahawks were able to overcome them.
Manning then went on to throw 55 touchdown passes in a season, breaking the NFL record. He also passed for 5,477 yards, the second-highest total in NFL history. They made it to the Super Bowl, but were beaten by the Patriots in a very tight match-up.

The Broncos missed out on the playoffs despite Manning’s continuing excellence. After the season, he announced his retirement. Manning threw for 71,940 yards and 539 touchdowns in his career. He was a five-time NFL MVP and a 14-time Pro Bowl selection. One of the best quarterbacks of all time, according to many.
