Former Navy SEAL Alden Mills is the creator of Perfect Fitness, and his understanding of perseverance, leadership, and teambuilding is unrivalled in the fitness industry. Despite being diagnosed with asthma as a youngster and being warned that he should avoid athletics, Mills found his place on his high school’s rowing team – an activity that attracted the notice of a U.S. Naval Academy and resulted in his receiving an invitation to the academy. When he was in his senior year, he was among just 19 students picked from a pool of 100 to train like a Navy SEAL. Mills completed his training and ultimately worked his way up to the post of platoon commander after a hard 25-week program that exposed his eyes to the vital link between attitude and outcomes.
Mills departed the SEALs in 1998 to pursue a master’s degree in business administration. After a series of business acquisitions and industry bankruptcies produced a few setbacks in Mills’ professional life, his wife encouraged him to start his fitness firm. He developed a rotating weight system named Body Rev that was targeted specifically toward ladies.
Despite having raised (and spent) $1.5 million, the item was unable to establish a connection with customers. Alden went on to become a Navy SEAL, serving as a platoon leader on no fewer than three occasions. He was also an entrepreneur, building his first firm from the ground up to generate $90 million in revenue in three years. How did he manage to pull it off? Perseverance is the key to success. That’s true, Alden was completely dedicated to generating greater results daily. Despite his many mistakes, he remained tenacious in his pursuit of knowledge.
